La belleza que exhalan las obras de arte crea una harmonía que agrada e, incluso, inspira a algunos. A estas alturas de la película no me cabe ningun tipo de duda de que Ferry Clot es un artista. Su conocimiento sobre los dos ruedas es la base principal para que, con su particular “duende” y su dominio del metal, de a luz motos como Anathema, motos que van más allá, motos místicas, con aura pero sobre todo roots. Cuando tuve ante mí a Anathema fue como un “déja vue”, como una situación ya vivida anteriormente. Concretamente, volví de golpe a Bonneville durante las carreras y más precisamente al momento en que Shinya Kimura de Chabott Engineering, el creador de Zero Engineering, despegaba en las courses con su escultura con motor Shovelhead. Son motos con alma, motos con vida, solo aptas para entendidos de verdad, aquellos que no se conforman con un poco de cromo, sino que sueñan con lo mejor. Josep está acostumbrado a manejarse dentro de un cierto nivel estético y además entiende y ve lo que muchos quizás no desprenden de la obra de Ferry Clot. Poseía ya desde hace unos años un bike show chopper del mismo creador aunque quizás su estética estaba más dirigida hacia el exterior. La Anathema posee una belleza intriseca que derrocha autenticidad por cada centímetro de óxido de su chasis rígido. Los agujeros de su parte delantera confieren a la máquina un estilo sport-vintage, junto al gordo neumático delantero, que me encanta así como el faro alado que, joder, que rollo tiene. El depósito Harley-Davidson totalmente reformado tiene ahora una “escotilla” que permite ver realmente la cantidad de líquido y le han aplicado un acabado cromatico muy “vieja escuela”. Un rojo por debajo y un negro lijado, por arriba, dan el mismo efecto en el guardabarros trasero, recuperado del delantero de una Fat Boy, remodelado, que permite que la llanta de 16 pulgadas luzca el neumático Coker. Motor S&S con culatines modelo Panhead dan 1.675 centímetros cúbicos de placer a Anathema, la afortunada que va provista de una transmisión RevTech, embrague Barnett y una secundaria por cadena, como debía de ser. Observad el filtro de aire, home made, que lleva impreso el nombre de su creador. Tiene pocas piezas, las necesarias para que, manteniendo su esencia, regale sensaciones a Josep a la hora de pilotarla. Anathema, cuyo significado etimológico es “ofrenda”, es precisamente eso, una ofrenda personal de Ferry al dios de la velocidad y un “renacer” de Josep tras una temporada un poco confusa. De esta manera se finiquita y borra de un solo gomazo la superficialidad y se da paso a la intensidad, a la madurez bien entendida. ¡Que así sea! The beauty exuded by works of art creates a harmony that is admired by many, providing them with inspiration. Work of this quality leaves me in no doubt that Ferry Clot is a true artist. His knowledge of motorbikes provides the foundations on which, with his unique spirit and his metalworking skills, bikes like Anathema are born. These bikes are something special, mystical machines with an aura, and more importantly, roots. When I first stood in front of Anathema, it was like a “déja vu”, like something I’d seen before. And then I was suddenly taken back to Bonneville and the races, specifically to the moment that Shinya Kimura from Chabott Engineering, creator of Zero Engineering, set off on the tracks with his two-wheeled sculpture with Shovelhead engine. These bikes have soul, life, and they are only suitable for guys who really get it, guys who aren’t satisfied with a bit of chrome, but only want the best. Josep is used to a certain level of aesthetics and understands and sees what a lot of others would miss in Ferry Clot’s work. He’d already owned of one of Clot’s bike show choppers for a few years, although its beauty was more external. The Anathema possesses an innate beauty which exudes authenticity in every centimeter of its rigid chassis. The holes in the front give the bike a sport-vintage look, and I love the fat front tire and the winged headlamp, which is so damn cool. The Harley-Davidson tank has been completely reshaped, and now has a “hatch” allowing you to see exactly how much liquid you’ve got. It’s been given a very “old-school” chrome finish. With red underneath and sanded-down black on top, it gives the same effect as the rear mudguard, remodeled from an old front Fat Boy, allowing for a 16” wheel with Coker tires. The S&S engine with Panhead cylinderheads provides the lucky Anathema with 1,675 cc of power. Transmission is RevTech, with a Barnett clutch and a secondary chain, just as it should be. Check out the home-made air filter, which has been engraved with the name of its creator. It has few parts, but all are needed to maintain its essence, and to give Josep that amazing sensation when he rides it. Anathema, which means “offering”, is just that, a personal offering from Ferry to the God of speed, and a “rebirth” for Josep after a fairly confusing period of his life. So in one fell swoop any superficiality is erased, giving way to intensity, and well-understood maturity. Just as it should be!
